Yes. AND GOD THEY CAUSE SO MUCH PAIN FOR HOW TINY THEY CAN BE.

I can’t even begin to imagine what the really big ones feel like.

@AmiGold Effing A how did you manage while pregnant?! o_O

Yeah they're beyond miserable. I've had quite a few, though *knocks on wood* haven't since my early 20's and don't plan to in the future. I think not having them is mainly due to the fact that I quit drinking. Alcohol doesn't exactly keep one hydrated.

Last one I had was enormous, spiky as hell, and ripped it's way through me. By the way, kidney stones aren't exactly smooth anyway.

This is a pic of one under a microscope. Now imagine that lil monster forcing it's way out of a urinary tract.

Could barely feel the pain meds working, but they at least allowed me to get out of bed...not that I could do much out of bed other than feel like I was dying.

Fortunately I have only experienced them once in my life at 18. My job was absolutely pissed I called out 5 minutes before my shift and my mom took me to the ER thinking I was faking it to get out of work LOL. I waited in the ER room laying on the nasty floor because it was cold and I was sweating bullets, crunched over holding my stomach and gathering up the last bit of my energy to throw up a few times in the restroom. Finally admitted into a room and a bed hours later and I was sedated with pain meds. They let me rest for a few hrs before being discharged. My mom wasn’t yelling at me anymore and started crying LOL. That’s a great family story. Spent 14 hrs at the ER. They were small enough that I just needed to pass them, and honestly I don’t remember passing them. But I’ve never experienced pain quite like that. I remember throughout the day I had this annoying minor throbbing pain that increased within a few hours and I couldn’t walk anymore.

Wait, so you passed it AT the hospital? Lame they wouldn't let you keep it lol. They always told me to go home, take meds and drink water. I had them a bunch as a kid (grew up in the country and worked out in the heat too much), and I think two or three times as an adult. I remember the first time seeing the stone (tiny, but visible), after that I don't recall noticing anything but the pain slowly going away as my insides healed.

no; however, i personally witnessed what it does to someone. that's why i have a daily intake of water, hot green tea, cranberry juice, and lime-squeezed water (this particular one helps especially for detoxing the kidneys of any bacteria).

Ugh, hate to remember them all. I've had many over the years especially when I was bar-tending. First one I was in the ER for 6-7 hours, high AF on pain meds. The rest I toughed thru at home. They all hurt and all passed eventually. What I found out was to drink buckets of water to swell your 'tube' and give it plenty of flow to get it out faster.
