Am I the only one who found it a bit awkward that the lavish halftime show was staged on the doorstep of the lower wards of New Orleans?

huh?

I don't know the city of New Orleans at all.

Are you just saying the neighborhood around the dome is shitty? Orrrrrrrr, I dunno. I missed your point

Would have been a logistical nightmare to have it in downtown Baton Rouge.

Congratulations, Ravens!

But what's up with that commercial where the gorgeous blonde is making out with the computer nerd with the rashes all over his face (or whatever the hell hat was), and you can see/hear the sounds of them making out...UGH. *vomits*

I know Super Bowl commercials are known for being over the top, but damn...I'm glad I wasn't eating.

People on Facebook are talking about how gross that commercial was...lol.

Superbowl halftime shows are always lavish and also always unwatchable IMO, regardless of the performers chosen. While the Superdome may be in a downtrodden area, having the Superbowl in a city is generally expected to be a financial boon, so perhaps the lower wards will get some aid out of it.

Anybody else think The Foo Fighters would put on an awesome halftime show?

I still say Prince put on the best halftime show of recent memory.

I think Foo Fighters can appeal to a broad audience. They are popular with a young crowd obviously, but they are also talented enough to cover some classic songs that will appeal to the middle-aged crowd.

Even if you aren't necessarily a FAN of them, I think they could still put on a great show

I liked it. Beyonce's not somebody I'd necessarily listen to in my own time (although "Crazy In Love" and "1+1" are great and who doesn't love a bit of "Independent Woman"?) but I thought she was pretty good. Her Glastonbury set from a few years ago was good too. Her live band are all awesome musicians, she can sing (sometimes she even sings live ;)), she's nice to look at and her stage production is always big (and even bigger at something like a Super Bowl). I thought she did fine. But I would like to see em go back to a big "classic rock act" next year. They've done Springsteen and Prince and McCartney and U2 and Tom Petty and the Stones and The Who so there's not too many bands left who could feasibly do it. But Bon Jovi or a reformed Guns N Roses or The Beach Boys or Elton John or Foo Fighters or Metallica or Fleetwood Mac or something would be cool.

it was definitely an extravaganza....but that 3d digital "light show" or whatever it was more impressive than beyonce, if'n you ask me

so was olivia4naked's half time show

I really don't like the half-time shows. It's just an overated 15 minute concert. As far as being in ther doorsteps of the lower ward of the city, at least it brought in tourist money to booster the economya little bit.

I'm just happy we've brought back a more modern act. Rolling stones, Paul McCartney, Madonna, half time show acts after Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson's titty was rough. "To not offend any parents, here's musical acts that offended your parents' parents instead!"

I don't tend to watch half time shows, Prince was the only one I watched the entire thing through.
