Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to help. So I have been broadcasting for about a two weeks. I invested in this computer *******HP Pavilion 17-f115dx 17.3" Laptop PC - 4th Gen Intel Intel Core i5-4210U / 6GB Memory / 750GB HD /DVD±RW/CD-RW / Webcam / Windows 8.1 64-bit***** and the C920 webcam.
So my upload speed stays pretty constant at 8mbs, however after about 3 hours of caming on chaturbate my FPS goes to about 7.... I try to restart the computer and everything but it stays there, so I end up dropping from the 640X480 to the lower setting. what can I do???? thank you, also I do nothing on the computer but cam. I have no other apps or windows open at all.

Which web browser do you use?

6GB of Memory is kind of lower than what I would like to see. If you have many programs running in the background that'll take a lot of resources and slow the system down. I would make sure that you don't have any programs loading on boot (right click on bottom desktop bar, click "task manager", click "startup"... I would disable everything except for the necessities, antivirus, etc).

Web browser could be an issue, I would avoid Internet Explorer at all costs, Chrome or Firefox are best.

(This is unlikely?) It's possible your Internet Service Provider is throttling your connection, noticing a lot of upload/download usage and is slowing your connection. During a good connection, I would test the internet speeds (www.speedtest.net) and test it again when your FPS drops to see if there's a noticeable change in speeds.

Another possibility is that your laptop is getting too hot? Make sure it's on a flat hard surface.

Does it happen roughly the same time every day (ie 8:30pm) or is at different times?

Since the drop happens after roughly the same amount of broadcast time this sounds a lot like an ISP issue to me and they are throttling you after you have uploaded a certain amount of data. You need to check the small print with yout ISP or contact them to see if this is what they are doing and consider changing packages or providers.

Its very unlikely to be a hardware issue as it would happen a lot sooner and be present all the time which it is not, unless you are running background programs like recording your entire shows or something resource intensive like that. Again though I doubt this is the problem as it would be cured by the reboot and then you would get another 3 hours before the issue reappears which you dont at the moment so I would rule out hardware problems as the most likely cause.

First step for me would be to check with your internet company as they are the likely bad guys in this scenario and see if that solves the problem.

I have run an internet test's and my upload is still above 5MBS when the issues is taking place. I use google chrome as my browser. I will check on the background aps, I felt the webcam when it happened last night and it was warm, not hot but warm. The laptop is on a flat hard desk, I can try to elevate though. I will post if any of these work, I broadcast again tomorrow night. As far as my ISP they say they do not throttle.

If I broadcast in HD on Chaturbate my fps drops to 10 ish, so, like you I drop the resolution to 640 and my fps is then 35+.. Guys say they prefer a slightly less resolution (it's ususally never even noticed) to a jerky broadcast.

My upload speed is 18mb

Thanks, tonights show went better, I placed a laptop fan below my laptop and it seemed to help. Odd thing is that the laptop didn't feel hot before, but thank you all so much! I love the support.
