Hello! This seems like the right area to ask. Would camming be a good fit for a former model? Any of the girls here have modeling experience that transferred well to camming? Would Twitch be a better camming platform for a straight guy? Thanks for any advice.

Camming is a good fit for any person who enjoys exploring their sexuality! But yes, I do know several cammodels who used to model professionally, and transferred their skills to the adult world. Having attractive looks is definitely a bonus that can help bring in new new tippers - while your personality keeps them in the room, coming back for more. And modeling, I've discovered, often brings some good skills that you can integrate with creating a cam persona. Knowing all of your angles that make you look the best, knowing how to take awesome shots to advertise yourself on social media, being more conscientious of your health, being comfortable in front of a camera. All of these are good for the camera!

As for whether Twitch is better for you or not... That completely depends on what you want to DO for your pay. Namely, are you interested in being an adult performer or do you want to be more of a personality figure, like social media performers? If you're interested in exploring your sexuality and turning people on, and making money for it, then adult camming is for you. But even if you are straight, you need to be comfortable with the fact that 99% of your target audience is going to be men. So it helps to be flexible enough to cater to your audience and have fun seducing them through the screen. If you are not okay with the sexual aspects, then adult camming probably isn't for you and you'll probably have more fun building a community in the Twitch corner of the internet!

Something else to consider are your future goals. I'm not sure how it is with male models, but I know that female models can face some backlash for choosing to take the adult route, especially if they try to continue to perform in the vanilla modeling world as well. Nothing stays a secret on the internet! Are you finished with your professional modeling career or will adult performances have any impact on future opportunities/gigs? This is also something that you should consider before choosing between adult work and Twitch!

Lots of information, thanks.

Are you finished with your professional modeling career

Yeah, mostly. Burned a few bridges that I shouldn't have. Twitch seems like a much better fit for me but I liked the idea of performing for a more mature audience. All the kids at Twitch can get annoying.

Even on cam sites the adults can be pretty childish. :)

If you're going to want to show off your body at all, or be overly flirty or hint at sexual, Twitch won't work out for you. Better to only go there if you want to focus on a video game or specific hobby on IRL section. You can be a little fun and flirty there, but your audience is going to be really mixed with people who like it, kids who will troll you for it, and bitter people who will report you for it.

If you want to get flirty and show off, head to Chaturbate. As @paige_orion said you'll need to be open to the idea that a large part of your audience could be gay men.

Yeah I'm sure you've seen some shit over the years.

Not against showing off or flirting but don't want to rely on or be liked because of my looks. The few times I streamed at Twitch was surprisingly fun but it was mostly people I knew already from a different community. No problem with gay dudes but not really interested in them being my main audience. Twitch seems like the best option even if building a large following will be time consuming. Best to focus on one game or just to go with what is trendy? My gaming skills aren't what they once were but still pretty good. Thanks for the help.

Just be aware that most pro twitch streamers spend 10-12 hour days streaming. Ninja usually streams 8-15 hours a day, 6 days a week. and 4 hours on on his 'day off'.

Last time he stopped streaming for 2 days he lost 40,000 subscribers.

Wild hours. I won't be attempting anything like that. More of a hobby to keep myself busy.

Pretty crazy. Didn't know how fickle the community is. I'm cool with not making any money doing it but hope I can get a decent amount of viewers at least. Does this Ninja dude stick to the same genre?

By not knowing who Ninja is, I can tell you haven't spent much/any time looking into Twitch.

Definitely spend a week or two watching some of the popular streams as well as some of the less popular IRL streams and stuff. I suggest the same to any new cam model trying to get into the biz. You've gotta watch others to get an idea of how things flow, what some of the chat might be like, etc.

I'm cool with not making any money doing it
If you're just looking for a hobby then just ignore what most of the posts here say, though. This forum is for people doing this as a living, not just a hobby, so the advice will mostly be how to make an income from it. :) If you're just doing it for fun, no need to worry about much just do it.

It was my most used app on Xbox for a few years but I never really checked out the most popular rooms. Only now noticing that Live Rewards merged with Microsoft Rewards. Live Rewards had a time played feature that Microsoft Rewards doesn't seem to. The people I watched weren't very popular besides maybe NoahJ. Still, I'll admit to having no clue who Ninja is so I will definitely keep my eye out for him.

True, no need to worry, but I want to be good at what I do and feel your advice will be helpful.

I'm confused what that has to do with Twitch.

Ninja try to be very PC, so he's more 'family friendly.'
Ninja has been a 'pro gamer' for over a decade.

It's kind of interesting people use to go on talk shows to promote their new album. Now they go on youtube channels and eat hot wings, and play games of fortnight with twitch streamers.

Yet no one goes on CB or MFC to promote. Maybe some day.

Twitch has much more traffic than any camsite, but at the same time the site is much more rigid when it comes to it's "stars". People don't move around a lot, new streamers rarely make it to the top (I have never seen a new streamer high on the page other than Logan Paul and Casey Neistat) and the crowd is cold towards new streamers. I brought my CB crowd there, was entertaining like a madwoman and the handful of Twitch viewers I got were mostly trolls asking me Ligma. I was told there are people streaming for YEARS before they get to 400 viewers and that was why the community was so bitter towards me, who knows.

Case is I found camsites much more friendly, warm, welcoming, and respectful than I found Twitch, which is surprising. The ratio of cool people to trolls is really skewed towards trolls.

Women don't really watch cams all that much, and most of the ones who do, watch other women. Not sure who you think your audience is going to be, but it'll more likely than not be dudes.

There is hostility on twitch. Some of community fells they can't competing against sexy women, and as such feel threatened by them. Others have had concerns about toxic relationships between viewers and streamers. Some people say they have concerns about objectification; While over say they're concerned about over sexualized content for minors.

There are female cos players who deal with the same thing. Part of the community accuses them of being 'fake'.

This was my Twitch stream outfit and activity... city tour in jeans and a tee. It was for all audiences and I didnt even wear cleavage just to make sure I wasn't stepping over any guidelines. I still got abused.

I would disagree. I know a few recent partnered streamers that break 1k a night in less than a year. What drives people to twitch is still mostly the game you choose to play to get the audience of that game's attention then attempt to build enough personality and trust to get that audience to move with you to the next game. I think it's harder if you aren't going to game or do IRL instead which does have a horrible stigma towards women I agree. At the same time if you attack your chat on twitch they will attack back. I see this often when it comes to cam models on twitch. Talking down to member is a fetish they might pay for, talking down to a gamer is usually never taken well. Nobody is owed respect on twitch they have to give and get back when it comes to respect. Camsites respect is half from members that understand the risk in your job and the other half not really respect but not wanting to lose access with a ban.

Not really sure how accurate this is with Twitch but it really doesn't matter. I was assuming most would be dudes. Just didn't want it being only gay dudes.

Was it fun? Planning on streaming there again?

It was a lot of fun! But it was only because I brought my own audience :)

You have a nice bouffant. If that is really you you could have a name for yourself: The guy with the bouffant.

I thought twitch was for gamers. I've seen some cute girls there but MAN do they get killed fast (mainly PUBG). I'm not gonna tip them when other people are just ruling--the personality is great, but the gameplay can be legendary (serious nerd stuff). If you got the bouffant going and are good at gaming, like in a respectable sense, you could make some cash ( I think the cuties I don't tip there make bank).

That's totally him and not Justin Bieber.

ok, it looks like Justin Bieber to me now. For whatever reason I thought it was his photo and thought it was him (not a Bieber fan so I don't know him--why would people post with a Bieber photo? Why not do something cool if you aren't going to do yourself? I don't understand it all ).

I feel less out of touch about not knowing who Ninja was. I just wish it didn't come at the cost of Biebs being slighted like that.

Why wouldn't people want a bouffant Bieber avatar is what I'm wondering.

It is just a dumb pic that makes me laugh.

No one but me is wondering what a former male model looks like. :) Do whatever makes you happy. I'm not here to crush any aspirations.

I do feel dumb not knowing the many hairdoos of justin bieber though.
