Lets have a thread for all the food topics :D no matter if it's a picture or just what we really like eating, if we have something we love to meal prep (if I'm not the only one doing that) etc :)

Seems like a lot of people like the food talk, so here it goes..

I'll start with a very simple one, Hotdogs with the sausage wrapped in bacon, mustard, ketchup, and dill pickled relish

I'll use this opportunity to present to you the hot dog from my region: it contains mashed potatoes, vinaigrette, corn, peas and those potato chips, the very thin ones that I don't know the name. A work of art.

You just eat it like any sandwich! But once I bought one that came with a spoon because it was so so so big 😵 now I'm hungry again

Looks almost as hard to handle as an Australian hamburger, the best of which you almost need a bath after eating one; if the juices don't run down to your elbows it was no good

Hehe I don't eat them often enough to get a photo, but here is what is on a "typical" Aussie "works" burger (Or burger with "the lot") :

Beef patty (of course!)
Bacon
Cheese
Fried Egg
Pineapple
Tomato
Lettuce
Onion
Beetroot
Grated carrot (sometimes)
Ketchup

A "plain" burger would not have the egg, pineapple, bacon, or cheese.

Not so great at food photography (plus much of what I eat doesn't necessarily look all that great in a photo. e.g. casseroles, pulled pork etc)

Sunday cooking: Beef curry

Bought Vindaloo & Butter Chicken paste
Light and Dark Soy sauces
Beef cubed and seared in a pan
Onions sauteed and then simmered briefly in the sauces
Potatoes
Carrots

All into the slow cooker for about 6-7 hours on low. Should be great dinners this week (with rice, pasta or mash as sides) !!

Okay, so this is mostly my food before I went dieting actually it seems!! have to start taking new pictures of the "better" food.. but here goes,

Christmas dinner, Turkey and ham, with pickled red kale, potatoes, and caramelized potatoes

IMG_0207.jpg

New years desert test one year, with a chocolate bowl, and candied sugar and jelly balls garnish for the ice cream (was okay, but way too much work for what it is)

IMG_0352.jpg

This is my go to mostly in the summer when I want something easy (like when you want cup noodles) It's actually instant noodles, boiled normally without the spice packages, then added the spice packages to sour cream together with other herbs, sliced cherry tomatoes and a little bit of chicken, and it all mixed together.

IMG_0406.jpg
Bagels with Lox (smoked Salmon) red onions, cream cheese, and cucumber, the salmon on the side is for the cat when she comes begging ofc

IMG_0594.jpg

Scrambled eggs with bellpeppers and bread :)
IMG_0667.jpg

This one is a bit in steps, It's just a bolognese where I put all the pasta into it at once.. missed a picture of the sauce reducing, but, there's plenty of tomatoes in there :)

This dish I'm not sure how popular are outside of Denmark and Sweden, it's where we take leftover potatoes and meat from the day before, cut them into cubes and fry it all off in the same pan, then add eggs and pickled red beets
IMG_1383.jpg

A meatball in tomato sauce after reducing and ready to put on some pasta :D
IMG_1545.jpg

Some breakfast, eggs, pancakes, bacon, and melon.. now would probably skip the bacon
IMG_1675.jpg

A Nacho lasagna, a little bit spicy salsa and some shredded chicken into it and use that as a lasagna sauce and then use nachos as the layers for a lasagna, can recommend..
IMG_1743.jpg

and finally ,a simple casserole dish right out the oven

I'm obsessed w shredded collard greens sautéed in garlic and butter! I'd show you all a pic, but it's too late, they're already in my tummy :) I never tried them in my life before, until about a month ago. This is the only way I've had them prepared so far, and I just... words don't describe the satisfaction...

Just got back from a quick trip to Sweden and had deer for the first time. Apologies to those who don’t eat meat.

I can’t tell you how friendly the Swedes are. I’ve never felt more welcome anywhere.

Pure dopamine and serotonin. I hope at least one person on this forum tries this!! So worth the effort!!

I made banana nut muffins this morning too, but I don't wanna over post, and look like a total fat ass 😆
However, that being said, cooking/preparing healthy, tasty nutritious foods is a great form of self (and other) -care 🤍

I thought I grabbed a caramel sauce but I actually grabbed a chocolate caramel sauce. I am worried this is going to be too sweet, but we’ll see. I kind of like the heavier, richer flavor.

I feel like this is my Fall coming celebratory dish this year. My next dentist appointment isn’t until December anyways 🤷‍♀️ whoops now that I’m posting the pics I see the presentations a little sloppy, but it’s all going to the same place.

I attached 4 pictures of a slightly different twist on the caramel apple dip recipe, I just made 🥳 excuse the presentation, it’s a bit sloppy.

The one I posted first was a gift, I never made the first one, but I sure appreciated it!

I don’t care if I look like a total lard ass being the only one posting here 😆 I snapped a quick pic of the collard greens before I ate them. I had them as a side last 3 nights in a row because I’m sick and craving greens. Food puts me in a good mood. So I’ll just go ahead and share my food porn again.

The other day I really felt like chicken burgers, so made the two in the first picture, very simple with a nicely marinated chicken (I made the marinade myself with oil and spices) homemade burger dressing, lettuce and tomatoes (The buns were store bought! laziness ruled)

and second picture is a chicken-curry with rice and tipped with sour cream.. I'm wondering if I'm the only one that boils my rice in broth instead of plain water? I started doing this 8 years ago and it really adds a lot to some dishes!! usually do chicken or vegetable broth :D

even after reading what this is.. I have no clue what it's supposed to be used for.. but just looking at it, and hearing Chocolate caramel, I need to know the use for this and a recipe! :p

Oh it was in reference to a few posts above. It's an apple dip. Or you could probably try it w pears and other fruits too. I actually preferred it with the regular carmel, but its super yummy to dip apples into. That being said, pretty high in calories and fat. I got gifted some and thought it was amazing! Then when I made it myself I understood why, that small Tupperware was like over 2000 kcals. Because it had a block of cream cheese in there, marshmallow fluff, brown sugar, caramel sauce, and heath pieces. So tasty though! But very high in sugar!! There are probably ways to substitute ingredients and bring it a little back in line, or alternately just have very small amounts on each piece of apple. Not recommended for diabetes.
