End of WFH and Back to Work Affecting Earnings?

I've been reading a bunch about models making much less now than during the previous year. As a male performer I expected to make significantly less than my female counterparts, but I did not expect to go days even weeks without a single tip. I'm also hearing in conversation with my female model friends on CB that earnings are nowhere near what they were last year.

I had a couple regulars pop in recently after a long absence tell me that they haven't been in because they no longer work from home. While they worked from home they spent time between meetings and other downtime on the cam sites getting off. Now that they are back in the office they can only visit when their gf/wife/bf/partner is out, busy or sleeping.

what do you think? Do you think things are getting slow because everyone is going back to the office for work?

No this is cam season, things are heating back up for me. Summer was a little slower. Plus, I'm not even kidding, they just run out to their cars and jerk off on lunch break etc anyways, (then DM me to tell me all about it). I have been getting a ton more new guys that are saying; "I have to be quiet my wife is sleeping" recently though, that much is true (for me). I used to never get that ever. As in ever the past 6 years. It could just be that married guys like a cam model they know already has someone, who they don't have to worry about though. This last week has been slow, but that's just temporary. Overall things have been good. Are you just working one site?

No this is cam season, things are heating back up for me. Summer was a little slower.

I definitely think this year is different than last year. Last spring and summer was one of the biggest earning times ever. I know we usually have a Summer slump which I felt as usual this year, but not in 2020.

I think since stuff has been opening back up in most states we've seen a decrease in spending on cam and content sites. I'm sure less WFH has some impact too, but I think last year spending on adult entertainment online took the part of a lot of peoples' budgets because they couldn't go out and spend it like they normally would.

The thing I feel bad about are the people who just jumped into this work last year when things were at an unusual spike, then reality smacks them in the face in now that we aren't in lockdown and the $ isn't flowing in at the rate it was in 2020.

Yes, tbh I stopped working due to extreme sickness when I got preggers, and only just started up (seriously working again) that is. So I basically skipped out a year, therefore things seem normal to me. Sorry @blayze_noir I forgot about that. I feel like I've been working, because I've been on here chatting about it, and continuing to learn/ monitor what's going on in the cam world, but the last year has been somewhat like a year off from actually doing much of it (for me). So I notice no difference.

Everyone and thier mom are web camming with covid lay offs and bills. Only Fans was crazy with newbies I hear, before they shut it down for porn. So even more are camming. I noticed all sites are slower. Plus, so many free shows. I have people expecting all sorts of free shit before they tip, saying they can see everything free in another room anyways.

I know a bunch of people that jumped in during the pandemic. I even jumped in after 2 models I became friends with convinced me to give it a shot. I would say 95% quit their OF, MV and cam sites by now. I am about 6 months in to this and am just about ready to throw in the towel. Just when I say to myself, "that's it! I'm done," someone shows up in my room and drops a ton of tokens!

I have no idea how much longer I can do this. I'm a realist. I know this business isn't for everyone. I may not have what it takes or may not have what people are looking for. That's fine. As someone said in another thread, I could be working a straight gig making more than I have been sitting for 3-4 hours or more and not getting tips.

BUT, on the plus side, I've learned a lot about my sexuality, my likes and dislikes, and how to be less shy, and be a better performer, and met some really nice people in this community.

I think it really is that hard for males. I've heard other male cam models say the exact same thing, who are totally different from you. It would certainly help if the guys that have their cocks out in free chat, would play it a little more coy.

FWIW a personal observation from being online 5-8 hours most days on CB. Over the last 5 months or so, traffic has been much lighter than the same period in the previous few years. And more noticeable than in 2020, the active tippers no longer seem to stay for very long. Some used to stay for hours, if not the entire show. Not so now, it seems to be much more down to business and then bail out. Perhaps a few more privates than before, not a bad thing. But it does impact on the room vibe, there is not so much friendly chat in between the action, and I think that can also stop newcomers or irregular visitors feeling like staying/returning.
Maybe this is people returning to somewhat normal work routines, but it may also be due to the increase in people broadcasting themselves. More competition for room time and tokens.

If it's some kind of trend related to society, I guess I would expect the same thing would be happening on MFC too? I used to be a viewer and model there, but I have not been for years, so I would not know.

For me SM has been the same as usual the last 3 weeks, although a little quieter this last single week.
