This has probably been discussed before but..

I like the classic webcam on top of the laptop, model using the laptop keyboard set up

When the webcam is mounted somewhere else and the models using a wireless mouse and keyboard and half way across the room, I think it loses that "personal" feel

I mean of course sometimes for shows etc it calls for a cam to be put somewhere different, but as a standard position I like webcam on laptop

It bothers me to the point I can't be bothered to talk to new models who mount there cam across the room

I realise it seems like quite a petty thing..

Does it bother anyone else?

Inappropriate spacing definitely throws me out of the fantasy or feel of a room. I don't know if mounting of the cam has much impact, but I understand what you mean about losing personal feel when the model is too far towards public spacing, when it should be social, personal or intimate.
I have been put off by the reverse too, a model being too close when it just doesn't fit the moment.

It must be quite a hard thing to get right, especially when you compare different cultures. We can only ask the model politely to move closer, or zoom out in the hope that she can create the right feel and eventually gain all the benefits that go with that.

I guess a laptop mounted cam would be easier to adjust the feel, so it may feel more personal/ natural for that reason too.

Distance doesn't really matter to me. I like different angles, and I like when a model knows or learns how to really play on those angles.

As a model myself, it's always difficult to decide the best way to approach things. I can totally see where you are coming from, I definitely think a model should try her best to be as personable as possible. Unfortunately some of us do not have the luxury to always have that perfect cam set up like some girls. For example, you mention the camera on the laptop view.... personally I have a desktop so even though my camera is sitting on top of my monitor it doesn't create the same vantage point.

I have been a model for a long time, but I was a premium long before that. So I am lucky to get both perspectives. And I can say now that I am a model I have WAY more respect for the girls then I even did before. It's hard to please everyone but we do our best without our own comfort levels.

Now that I've shared my perspective a little, to better answer your question. Yes, I do have some pet peeves when it comes to watching and tipping other girls. I don't like when girls never faces the camera straight on, it seems distant and slightly cold to me, just like you I like that direct eye contact, I like to feel like I am being engaged not just staring at someone. Will I get mad if she does it for a few minutes every once in a while? Of course not. My other pet peeve is girls who sit in the same position the entire time they are on cam. You're gorgeous, get up and flaunt it every once and a while! I love me some wiggles!

Ultimately though, I your right to say you want to feel that connection. I think that's what we all seek, models and members alike.

If the standard "laptop view" is what makes you feel it the strongest, then rock on, just make sure to let the girls know you're enjoying it!

I could not agree more. It is a two way street and open communication is best.

Yeah I get what you mean. There are only 2 positions I dont like, the first is when its so close that you can only see a models face or one body part filling the entire screen (I'm talking about for a whole show here not if the model is moving the camera around or doing some close ups) and when the cam is either positioned down low or up high so its at a really steep angle. Anything else is fine by me.

I think this is a bit of an impossible situation for models unless something is really badly off because for every member who would moan about a certain angle or position there will be another one who likes it or who doesn't care so I find it best just to never say anything like this unless the model has asked the room for some reason or its in a private.

I'm okay with it setting on her chair between her legs. :angelic:

Other than that I don't really have an opinion. What does the lounge say on the matter?

It's hard to please everyone on what is the best distance from the camera, angle of view etc, but personally, as long as I can see more than 4 ribs and a belly button and it's in focus, I'm a happy camper. :D

There's an American studio on SM that positions all of its models cams high and to the side of their monitor. It just seems really impersonal to have the model constantly looking in the complete opposite direction of the cam to see their screen. Drives me crazy.

The only other time it bothers me is when models never have their full face in frame. Theres a moderately popular model on MFC whose room I must have popped in dozens of times and her cam was always only showing from her mouth down the ENTIRE TIME. I about had a heart attack when I recently popped in there and I actually saw her entire head. :haha:

I have a couple of things that i dont care for. The most major is perhaps the exact opposite of yours. I absolutely hate when the girl is on her laptop and all you can hear is the loud clacking of her keys and her [usually fake] nails making the very sharp sound. When you have the cam off of or away from the laptop, there is no contact vibration to speak of to transmit the clacking. Dont mind the wireless stuff at all as long as you're close enough for a good pic.
The other one i will agree with is the constant cam fiddlers. Most of the euro studio girls seem to have this remote attached to their hand. Its one thing and fine when changing position, like getting up to dance, but theres not much gained by making us motion sick by constantly fiddling with the in/out/ left /right buttons. Theres a few RussFed studio girls that are really bad at that.

I've dabbled a little in art and photography, just enough to make me finicky as hell about camera angles and lighting. Yes, it bothers me.

Agree wholeheartedly.
