like the topic says...

I have a 6 year old (maybe 7?? I dunno) gaming laptop that has seen better days. this morning I spent 10 minutes getting it to recognize my mouse (not a battery issue), all the lower keys don't work (use a usb keyboard), etc etc
I used to be better at this computer stuff, but that was in the early 2000's and just never kept up.
anyway, I figure it's time to get a new one, and I'm looking around trying to do my research.
I don't need much these days.. I've pretty much quit gaming so I don't need top of the line monstah and I've been looking at laptop/tablet hybrids, my criteria is that it has to stream vid (mfc duh) and run win 10 desktop software
one of the few that keeps popping up is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (3 too)

and because I'm fond of the company, I'm also looking at an ASUS

dump your opinions and knowledge on me please
thanks.

it will be easyer to help you if you could give us a budget on how much money you are willing to spend.
the lack of a dollar amount is on purpose. it means, I'm not overly concerned with what it costs, so long as it meets the criteria I mentioned already.

With running windows 10 desktop software as one of your criteria, safe to say you more or less answered your own question.

Surface tablets are pricey, but if the money really is no object given the best experience... well, it'll be the most windows-y experience of the bunch. Add to that a large screen for a tablet and options for fairly beefy processors, sounds like it fits the bill for you.

Edit: As for the Asus 2-in-1s, I'd steer clear. I love Asus for desktop components, but the ''horror stories'' about the 2-in-1 are all echoing each other. Bad wifi handling, delicate connection between the halves that tends to break, and a lot of DOA units, meaning bad quality control.
