Collective perception of Sex

This subject was briefly touched upon in a lecture from my Sex Crime & Sex Offenders class a couple years ago and I found it more intriguing than the class itself and worthy of further discussion.

Do you think our collective perception of sex is changing for the better or for worse? What factor(s) contribute to your belief? Given the way the sex industry portrays their products to the masses, how advancement of technology and lax content rules provides a wider dissemination and instant access to porn; does this easy exposure to a wide variety of sexual acts at an early age a determinant factor towards making an individual easily objectify other human beings later in their adult life?

I think "objectification" is an empty word, so it doesn't concern me. What I spend a lot of time thinking about is if getting rid of all sexual mores that have kept our civilization standing will have a good outcome.

Sexual mores have a reason to be because sex has actual consequences in the real world. So learning and teaching each other to be cautious about sex is important and is one of the things sexual mores accomplish.

Sex out of wedlock, for example, can cause undesirable pregnancies, and when those happen they can be a real problem for everyone involved unless you have a really strong family and plenty resources. Male gay sex has the highest STD transmission rate. Among many other things. Watching porn and fapping so much might have a correlation with reported satisfaction within your marriage, or with your motivation to go out to the real world and find an actual person.

So I do have my reservations.
