It is obvious to anyone who models at Chaturbate that things are not what they used to be. Two years ago Chaturbate had mad traffic and you knew this because of how many registered users were in the rooms that were sitting in the first rows. This translated into tons of tippers, new members converting into spending members, etc. The numbers are not looking good lately and it is only getting worse, the room count is being pumped with bots.. thousands and thousands of them to the point where I am often sitting in top row with 6000 viewers 5000+ of which are anonymous users. Ridiculous. And before you ask, I opted out of all third party advertising. As a result there are not many tippers, the tippers are being spread across all rooms making the whole site feel really slow, since there isn't good tip flow, there isn't good energy and new members are harder to convert. If they don't do something to fix this quickly the inertia will be really hard to fix.

Now the main reason for the dip in traffic this: Their emailing system is broken. My viewers complain every day that they are not receiving the emails when I go online. They are right, I am not getting them either for the models I follow. They going straight into the spam folder. The last email of these that I got in my inbox is from August 2016 and this is what my spam folder looks like at the moment:

spamfolder.jpg

Emailing is still the most effective way to bring people to any website. But it doesn't work if it lands in the spam folder. I don't know the reason why this is happening to Chaturbate's emails, it can be anything from a stupid mistake someone made while configuring something back in August to Chaturbate trying to cut down costs by using a cheaper emailing method. Either way, this is really hurting the site and they need to look into it ASAP.

Especially now that MFC seems to have finally gotten the memo that they needed to be competitive if they wanted to survive and are moving earth and skies to fix this issue by creating new functions that will make their models stay (Share, Camyou, more dynamic homepage etc) The thing that makes Chaturbate competitive is the massive traffic, if this stops working models like me will start to look for a new site to cam from.

Don't forget though, a lot of members do opt out of receiving the emails because they have partners and family and/or they access the site from "wrong" places: such as whilst at work - so possibly don't just use their own personal email. A lot also don't even verify their email so don't ever need to check their emails (spam or inbox). That in itself is a big stupid flaw on Chaturbate. The fact you don't need to verify your email to me a member - obviously you do if you want to become a tipper.

If you also noticed too, the past months it seems like the site suddenly had a huge boost in models broadcasting so there is much more competition now.It used to average when I saw about 35 pages but now it averages between 45 - 50. The fact you get 89 thumbs per page means that's a potential significant increase of models, going from the avg of 3,115 (35 pages), to 4005-4,450 (45-50 pages).

Except, chaturbate has more traffic today than they did 2 years ago (https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/chaturbate.com). How many users are in someone's room isn't a good guage of overall website traffic unless the number of models stays the same (which I suspect is the real problem). If you also knew how many pages of models there were 2 years ago, it would be more useful.

As far as the email, I've noticed that as well. Thing is, it's not really chaturbate's problem. Gmail's spam filter is very heavy handed. Chaturbate is far from the only company I see going into the junk mail folder. My junk mail folder (annoyingly) is filled with emails and newsletters that I signed up for and wanted to receive. So it's far from a chaturbate specific problem. I'm not sure how much they can really do about it.

Personally, I doubt it's the reason for the decline though. Their traffic has increased significantly over the years despite that problem. I would suspect, overall, their revenue would be up as well. I think the reason for the "decline" is because of the influx of models. Particularly from cam studios in countries where internet connectivity may not have been good enough to cam from until recent years.

My theory is that despite the size of the pie increasing, there's far more models competing for their share of it. The result is everyone getting a smaller piece despite there being more overall.

The other question would be, are models on other sites fairing any better or is their revenue declining as well?

Hmm, then maybe they can do something about it. Sending email alerts to unverified email accounts is a good way to end up in the junk email folder. They should only be sending alerts to confirmed email addresses.

Alexa? Did you look up Chaturbate on Altavista too?

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough but I wasn't talking about overall website traffic. Like I said up there when I am on the first row I have 6000 viewers and 5000+ are unregistered users, some of them are bots, some are not. The problem I am talking about is with registered users, good traffic. What good does it do to Chaturbate to have 2 million anonymous users from a pop-under on an shady affiliate webpage in India where credit cards are really difficult to get? The traffic that sustains Chaturbate is it's registered users, the users who like the site enough to make the effort to open an account because that's the people who come back and eventually spend. Particularly users from the US, CAN, UK, AUS and also Norway, Sweden, Germany, Italy and France. These users were getting reminders by email by Chaturbate to go see the models they are following when they broadcasted, but they aren't getting these emails anymore since they land in the spam folder. So the registered users they do have are not coming back.

As far as the email, I've noticed that as well. Thing is, it's not really chaturbate's problem. Gmail's spam filter is very heavy handed. I've managed mailing lists for years so I am not going to talk to you about technical details because I don't think you will understand them, but if Chaturbate's emails are being filtered as spam is because Chaturbate is not doing things right. There are a million ways to prevent your emails going into the spam folder and anyone working in online advertising knows it. If it was an unavoidable reality that mails can simply go into the spam folder "just because" the internet would be much more chaotic as confirmation emails for every single website out there are handled by mailing lists and they never go into junk mail.

Chaturbate is doing something wrong since August 2016, it needs to figure out what it is that they changed.. if it was someone screwing with the settings, if it was that they switched services or what it was that they did to make their mail go into spam and they need to fix it if they want their site to have decent traffic again.

This would be the problem if the users were spread equally among rooms, but let's face it... All of Chaturbate traffic for the most part stays in the homepage and second page at most. If there are 45 pages then 40 of them have almost nobody in the room.

If you have a better source of info for website rankings, then by all means, feel free to share it. I checked quantcast, and they're showing a pretty significant increase in traffic as well, however, it doesn't go back very far. While it's far from my expertise, to my knowledge, alexa is still the best source for website rankings. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong there.

As far as your second paragraph, that is a fair point. It would disproportionately affect registered users vs unregistered. Although, I could see that impacting revenue more than user count.

As far as your third paragraph, if you can do so without being a condescending prick, then I'd be happy to discuss technical details. I've run email servers for companies for many years. I made a living off of email marketing for 2 years. My response was short for the sake of brevity and hardly a comprehensive evaluation of chaturbate's problem. In addition, I already backtracked and pointed out a likely cause of their issue (sending alerts to unconfirmed addresses). That said, gmail can be very finicky with mass mailing. As I said, my spam box is full of false positives from companies and online marketers who "know how to stay out of the spam folder". Yes, there are ways to prevent it. "Prevent" being the key operative there. There is no sure way to stop it. Just google gmail false positives and you'll see I'm not alone in complaining about gmail filtering tons of good email. If anyone in online advertising knows how to stay out of the spam folder, then why is my gmail spam folder full of good emails? A good spam filter not only filters out spam, but also keeps good email out of the spam folder. Gmail fails miserably at the latter IMO. That's why I was quick (probably too quick) to point out there's probably not much chaturbate can do (which I already retracted).

Just checked my spam folder. None from chaturbate. But there was one from MFC Share in there.

I didn't create this thread to discuss this with randomuser69. There is a real problem and I wrote this so a Chaturbate rep hopefully reads this thread and passes this info along so someone can check their emailing platform. All you are doing in this thread is derailing it, diluting the issue and spreading misinformation.

Sorry, I was under the misunderstanding this was a place for discussion. You presented a theory, I disagreed and presented an alternate one. I didn't realize you didn't want to discuss it. My mistake. I will stay out of it.

Chaturbate sends a ton of spammy mails so it wouldn’t shock me if there was a filtering issue happening.

Maybe @punker barbie can look into it (and hopefully skips the ransom bs in this thread).

And as far as Alexa stuff goes, unless the browser extensions and toolbars used to track their data is standard and mandatory on every human’s browser now, it’s not an accurate measure of much.

It’s best not to rely on that.

I've been on CB as a member for several years now, and I have never used the e-mail notification feature before today. I whittled my "followed" list down to 15 of my favorite models and enabled the e-mail notification feature. I use Yahoo mail for my CB account, and all of the e-mails I get from CB when I purchase tokens have never went into my spam folder there. On average, my Yahoo spam folder gets 4 spam mails for every legitimate e-mail I receive in my inbox. So, let's see how this goes for a few days.

Gmail is different than what most people think. Google uses analytics on how they filter mail. If you get mail, you can delete it so many times without reading it before it automatically dumps it into the "spam" filter. It also depends on the number of people who report something as spam. If something is in your spam folder, you can check it and then click "Not spam" and it will allow futures emails from that address to into the inbox until a certain number of counts happen again.

I think it has allot to do with site and servers, nobody want's to spent the money if the site is not working normal almoust every day. When I started there was 16 pages of female at peak, yesterday it had like 31. Bots and free shows, doesen't help also.

Well, just about ~3 hours in and 2 e-mails telling me that two of my followed models went online. I see three problems:

1. Both e-mails went to my spam folder.
2. Both models were online for well over an hour before the notification e-mail was received.
3. From looking at the message source, the e-mail originated from mail.chaturbate.com, but it appears to be using a 3rd party sender(sendgrid.net), which is a bulk e-mail sender. It's apparently not playing nice with Yahoo's bulk/SPF system.

A wild guess here, but if these e-mails are being delayed, -AND- going to spam for G-mail, Yahoo and others, it sounds like sendgrid.net might be the culprit.

They are most likely sending the token purchase e-mails a different way. I usually delete those, so I don't have header information to confirm this.

The last email of these that I got in my inbox is from August 2016 and this is what my spam folder looks like at the moment:

A little digging provided this - as of August 18, 2017 sendgrid.net has been hammered with blacklisting in several EU countries. Not sure hows this propagates to/in the USA, though. But CB should be aware of this already. And if they are aware of it.....well...

So many mails going into the spam bucket in gmail may also explain why so many banned models and members claim support are ignoring them?

No, support emails don't go into the spam folder, only emails from the mailing lists do.

I meant to say August 2017 in my post, so it is likely a problem with their current service. They should find a new one.

I knew it was a typo as was evident from the attached image in your OP. =)

I forgot to add that I moved the CB notification to my inbox and told Yahoo mail that it was not spam, so we'll have to see if that allows them to show up in my inbox. But yes, with sendnet being blacklisted in so many places, CB is at their mercy until they find a new service.

Just wanted to update things: The e-mails that I told Yahoo were not spam came from a specific IP address, and are now going into my Inbox. Problem is, CB/Sendnet apparently use a range of IP addresses, and e-mails coming from a different IP address are still being sent to my spam folder.

They just need to switch services. They must be paying a lot to send out so many emails, I have over 100k followers and I used to send them an email every single time I went on cam. Since I cam 2x or 3x a week that’s over 1 million emails a month for only 1 model. That’s a lot of money they are throwing into the trash with sendgrid. It would be better to offer no emails than to burn their cash for nothing like this

Emmmm what if its not CB's fault?
What if its a new spam filter from email provider.
Sometimes when a user receives a cb notification that model is online and accidentally (or not) that email is sent to spam folder... it creates a rule.
What if 2k users receive cb notification by email and don't open or simply delete the message or throw it to spam folder or even report it ... those actions create a rule... if multiple reports are sent, the email client is creating a global rule / filter.
But i don't know, i don't work as a CB employee...and i do receive cb notif. each time a fav model goes online.
