Hi, I'm msandroid. I'm a prospective camgirl. The only thing is, I still live with my parents. Do you guys have any ideas about how I can work around that? Thank you so much!

Cam when they are sleeping or at work. Save up $$ and then move out so you can cam/make clips whenever you want.

Totally misread this topic as 'At Home Canning.'

Was all hyped to start talking homemade pickles and salsa.

Yeah that was the plan, the only issue is is that I don't have a bedroom door, as we live in a trailer T-T. I may end up having to film clips until I can move out. Thank you!

Mmmm pickles. I'll make salsa, you make pickles, and we shall do a trade, yeah?

misandroid- I initially read your name and thought almost Missandei. I'm still new so I have no advice but I read pickles and got distracted. Sorry, hun.

Are you a dependent? If you are, you might want to reconsider until you find a way to move out within 6 months from the end of the year.
I live with a family member and they don't know I cam. I'm moving this month in order to be able to escape being filed as a dependent with enough time to make it seem reasonable that I made 9K (after 9k income you can no longer be a dependent.)
I cam when the family member is asleep/at work. At night I KNOW they won't come into my room and their room is also down the hall quite a bit. I don't have a lock either.

I think you should first assess the risks of doing this if you know that they might freak out if they find out somehow, as well as the whole tax thing if you're a dependent. Research what it means to be considered a dependent and start your decision there.

This was a huge mistake I made but thankfully I didn't pass the threshold to have to tell my parent how much I made (you have to do that if you make over ~4k.)

If you don't plan on making more than 4k, I say go for it. You still have do file taxes though once you make $400 and tax stuff will be mailed to your address. Also, PO box didn't work for me for MFC but thankfully nobody opens my mail.

I agree that it might be easier to make clips to begin with when your family isn't around. In addition to selling clips on a site such as clips4sale or manyvids, I would suggest building up your social media presence on twitter and instagram. Selling clips and building a social media presence should hopefully help build a future cam audience for you. Good luck!

My first year camming was 2011 and I made 15k. My parents still claimed me as their dependent and I filed as a dependent. Uncle Sam took more than 35% since I was a dependent but I've never heard there's a $ amount you can't go over to be claimed as a dependent.

This is what I found when doing my research from 2014 while freaking out:
Your child may have a job, but that job cannot provide more than half of her support.
If your gross income was $4,000 or more, you usually cannot be claimed as a dependent unless you are a qualifying child. For details, see Exemptions for Dependents on page 11 of IRS Publication 501.

My first post was wrong then :p the amount is a lot lower.

Personally, I cam when everyone who lives in my household is asleep. At first I didn't enable sound to keep things quiet, but as you can imagine that gets pretty boring / frustrating. I keep the sound on now but I make sure the room knows I can't be obnoxiously loud ~ anyways it's been nearly a year and it's been working out alright. It certainly restricts my room in quite a few ways, but it works.

I feel like your best bet is to get a vanilla job and try and save to move out and cam then.

Or as has been suggested clip sites.

Without having a bedroom door to give you privacy it seems like an impossibility.

For real. I'm at my grandparents' house in PA this holiday weekend...where several family members were spending the night. I can't imagine trying to cam in a bedroom where I'm not 100% certain the door even locks, and unattended little ones coming upstairs and barging into my room.

I started camming at night while I living in my parents' basement. It's doable, but it depends on your living situation. It might be too risky if your parents are generally sex-negative/anti-porn. If you do decide to do it, set a goal for how much you need to make to move out first (two-three months rent and enough for living expenses), and line up a place to stay just in case shit really hits the fan and you have to move out.

I've seen some models do clips first and then get into camming once they have some money. It requires building up a lot of content and promoting yourself.
