    Is free speech under attack?

That's fine. The principles of free speech are limited and outlawed in many countries, which is wrong. I was just pointing out that people under one country's laws may not understand the issues if they're looking at it from another country and under their different law. And Happy Birthday.

    Is free speech under attack?

That's in the U.K. Their laws hardly apply here, nor do our laws apply there. The two men should have been in separate posts by the OP. One for American freedom of speech and one for U.K. freedom of speech. That's like comparing Canada's freedom laws to those of Saudi Arabia, they're totally...

    Is free speech under attack?

I can go through and list Fox "News" anchors spewing their racist shit too. Big deal, they're after ratings. The woman I showed is a racist living in a neighborhood trying to run a black family out of their new home. That shit is straight out of the 60's. We have KKK spreading propaganda...

    Is free speech under attack?

There's the problem. Too many people think they're the only people on the planet and whet they want is all that matters. On a totally different subject, but in the same spirit: over 400,000 people signed a petition to move Halloween to the last Saturday of October. Whiny, self-centered assholes...

    Is free speech under attack?

I really think we were better off in the 60's when there were 3 news networks. They seemed to focus on the facts more and they identified opinions as "editorials". Their goal was getting the facts, not hyping whatever gets them the highest ratings, true or not.

    Is free speech under attack?

A quick example of Alex Jones' "reporting". After 20 children and 6 adults were murdered in Sandy Hook Elementary school, Jones claimed it was a false flag, The victims were paid actors and nobody really died. He had other such opinions of other incidents as well. That's Alex Jones in a...

    Flat Earth theory

Wasn't the world supposed to end at the end of the Mayan calendar on 12/12/2012? Sometimes I think it's too bad they were wrong.

    Is free speech under attack?

Free speech? https://washingtonpress.com/2018/10/30/indiana-woman-arrested-for-leaving-racist-note-for-new-neighbors-i-released-some-anger/ via @anteksiler I think not. It's racism trying to hide behind free speech. Another racist caught and crying.

    Is free speech under attack?

I saw that news, I just didn't think what appears to be a political dirty trick fell into a free speech discussion.

    Is free speech under attack?

Every individual has the right to free speech. Their job or "celebrity" has no effect on that. It's up to individuals to decide how much weight they give to those opinions.

You lost me. Where did "me too" come in?

    Is free speech under attack?

That's why I've made a point to differentiate between non-violent and violent protest. They really are two separate discussions.

    Is free speech under attack?

I apologize. I misread one of her posts. This is what I misunderstood. My mistake. But I think this does justify the direction the thread has taken though as in "societal norms".

    Is free speech under attack?

You have a point. Please do not venture into the rhetoric of dinner vs. pipe-bombs that has become popular. That should be a whole other thread if it's argued.

    Is free speech under attack?

If you read the OP's later comments, she said her post was more about violations of anti-trust laws. Therefore she misrepresented her own subject matter.

    Is free speech under attack?

Those same inconveniences were caused by "bridgegate" in New Jersey from a political stunt. Differences?

    Is free speech under attack?

How many protests that didn't inconvenience anyone have ever been successful? If the only argument against a cause is that their protesters caused a traffic jam, there is no argument against it.

    Is free speech under attack?

The anti-war protests (in the 60's and early 70's } were loud and inconvenienced people, but that's what it took to get people's attention. Yes, many did become violent and there were arrests, injuries and it cost much support for the cause. There are always a few people that go to extremes and...

    Is free speech under attack?

Losing support because people were inconvenienced is a possible side-effect of protesting. Throwing objects falls into (as I've stated before) a criminal violence that is illegal. Nazis screaming obscenities while carrying tiki torches is a protest (although I find their views distasteful)...

    Is free speech under attack?

That's their right. I may not agree with it but they have the right to protest it. They do not have the right to bomb or shoot people there however. That goes into the criminal violence aspect and exits mere free speech.
